| Title: Fall harvest Material: Mild Steel Weight: 325 lb Dimensions: 85" x 51" x 24" Available through: Art and Soul of Pueblo Street Gallery www.artandsoul-pueblo.org Description: Symbolic of a bountiful harvest, this abstract representation of a sheaf of wheat promises prosperity. “Vincent van Gogh viewed wheat as a central metaphor of the cycle of life and the creative process. As such, it was a theme that he consistently explored throughout his career”. Appropriately, last fall, only a few days after reading about this fact in the book, Van Gogh’s Sheaves of Wheat by author Dorothy Kosinski, I was looking though scrap in a local farmers field. There I found, scattered about, these pieces of rusty, discarded steel. Instantly I knew how to resurrect them. |
